🛒Ingredients
- Chicken - for the chicken I like to use rotisserie, as it is convenient and full of flavor. Try this easy recipe on how to make your own pulled chicken (in 3 ways!).
- Cheese - if you use sliced cheese you will need 12 slices. You can place 6 on the bottom and 6 on the top. You can use pepper jack cheese, mozzarella, or gouda for the cheese.
- Barbecue sauce - use regular bbq sauce (we like Stubb's) or flavored, or for extra mile, try homemade barbecue sauce instead.
- Hawaiian rolls - these are my go-to favorites - reliably sweet and fluffy. Feel free to use any rolls or buns you like!
- Dried minced onion - optional but gives your sweet buns some needed savory accent. Substitute with poppy seeds, sesame seeds or bagel seasoning.

🥣How to Make BBQ Chicken Sliders
STEP 1: Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat chicken with barbecue sauce and set aside.
Combine butter, parmesan, and garlic powder; set aside.
STEP 2: Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Place bottom Hawaiian rolls on sheet, layer with cheese, chicken, onion, and more cheese, then top with rolls.
STEP 3: Brush tops with garlic butter and sprinkle minced onion.
Bake 15-20 minutes until heated through and cheese melts. Garnish with parsley before serving.
TIP: Use a large serrated bread knife for smooth slicing without squishing or ripping the rolls.
EXPERT TIP
For extra indulgent sliders, combine two different cheese: shredded mozzarella or provolone + smoked gouda, so good!
📋Tips
- Extra hearty - Add a coleslaw layer to the sliders.
- Try different filling with my slow cooker pulled beef.
- Different cheeses. Some cheeses might need 20 mins to melt fully. If tops brown too much, cover with foil to prevent burning and ensure complete melting.
- To avoid soggy sliders, cut the bottom buns slightly thicker than the top ones.
