  • Oregano: Dried oregano is great for sprinkling on pizza. Try Italian herb mix, basil, tarragon, marjoram, or cilantro.
  • BBQ sauce: Use any favorite BBQ sauce to flavor the pizzas. There's no one best BBQ sauce for pizza.

Notes

  • Chicken preparation: Ensure the chicken is cooked before adding it to the pizza. Boiled, fried, grilled, or leftover rotisserie chicken all work well. Shred or dice the chicken as desired.
  • Cheese: Use plenty of shredded cheese for a deliciously gooey cheesy pizza. Layer the cheese evenly to ensure every bite is filled with cheesy goodness.

🤷 Chicken Mini Pizza Recipe FAQS

Just whizzing through this article? Here are some key takeouts:

Should I cook chicken before putting it on pizza?

Yes, the chicken should be cooked before adding it to the pizza. Use boiled, fried, grilled, or leftover chicken.  Pulled chicken, cubed chicken, or store-bought rotisserie chicken are all great options.

Do you put toppings or cheese on pizza first?

In many American places, cheese goes under the toppings, but you can do both! For a double-cheese BBQ chicken pizza, put one layer of cheese on the bottom and another on top of the toppings. Just don't use too much, especially on mini pizzas, or they might get soggy.

What other sauces can I use besides barbecue sauce?

For different flavors, use pizza sauce or pesto sauce.

Can I make this recipe vegetarian?

Yes, swap the chicken for beans or vegan meat alternatives to make the pizza vegetarian.

What type of cheese works best?

Colby Jack, shredded mozzarella cheese, Gouda, Cheddar, or Triple Cheddar all melt well and work great on these pizzas.
