🥣 How To Make Strawberry Limeade
- In a blender or food processor, puree the sliced strawberries until smooth. If you don’t want the seeds or much pulp in your limeade, strain the purée into a bowl.
- In a large pitcher, mix together the lime juice and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the pureed strawberries to the pitcher and stir to combine.
- Add the coconut water and water; stir well. Taste and adjust the sweetness as desired. Lime and strawberry slices can be added to the pitcher, if desired.
- Chill the strawberry limeade in the fridge until ready to serve
- Serve garnished with lime slices and fresh strawberries, if desired.
Can I substitute coconut water with something else? YES, you can substitute coconut water with more regular water or another type of juice if desired. The coconut water is used to give the drink a sweeter, more refreshing flavor.
How to Hull Strawberries
The hull is the leafy part on top of the strawberry. Hulling strawberries means removing it along with a small piece from inside.
- Wash and Prepare: Wash and dry the strawberries. Pull the leaves up from one berry at a time, working over a cutting board.
- Cut the Hull: Insert a paring knife about half an inch deep at a slight angle and cut out a small cone shape from the top.
- Remove the Hull: Move the knife in a circle; the hull may pop out. If not, gently tug the leaves to pull it out.
- Repeat: Continue until all strawberries are hulled. The tops can be composted!
- Alternative Methods: You can poke a straw through the bottom of the berry or use a grapefruit spoon.
- For Limeade: To make strawberry limeade, you can cut the strawberries in half lengthwise for easier mashing, but this isn't part of hulling.
📋 Tips
- Straining - To strain the puree, press the back of a spoon against the strainer, allowing the juice to flow through while keeping the seeds and pulp behind.
- Wash strawberries - Always wash them before slicing to ensure they’re clean.
- Use fresh lime juice - For the best flavor, opt for freshly squeezed lime juice. If using bottled lime juice, make sure it’s 100% lime juice with no added sweeteners or preservatives.
- Adjusting the recipe - You can easily double or halve this recipe based on how much you want to make.
- Too Sweet? Blend in some ice cubes to dilute the mixture as they melt. No blender? Mix in an extra cup of water and taste until you get the flavor you want. For a single glass, just add a splash of water and stir.
- Fruit Hack - To adjust sweetness without changing the liquid, choose small, firm, bright red strawberries. These are usually the sweetest! Locally grown berries tend to be sweeter, so look for those and avoid large berries with white tops.

🤷 Easy Homemade Strawberry Limeade: FAQs
The strawberry limeade can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. However, it is best served fresh for optimal flavor.
Yes, you can use a different sweetener such as honey, agave, or maple syrup. However, keep in mind that the flavor may be slightly different.
I prefer making simple syrup instead of adding sugar directly because sugar can take a while to dissolve. You might have experienced drinks with grainy sugar at the bottom. With simple syrup, the sugar fully dissolves in water while heated, ensuring a smooth texture.
Definitely! You can prepare strawberry limeade one or two days in advance and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.
