🛒What You Need To Make Frosted Lemonade
- Lemons - fresh is best!
- White granulated sugar - white sugar sweetens up the lemonade, use more or less based on your preference.
- Whole milk - whole milk adds creaminess to the lemonade.
- Vanilla ice cream - vanilla ice cream makes this lemonade super rich and creamy.
- Vanilla extract - use pure vanilla extract for the best flavor.
Step-by-step photos can be seen below the recipe card.
Rita's Tip
Make sure to let the ice cream soften before you try blending it or you may burn the motor of your blender.
📋Tips
- Use room temperature lemons as they are easier to juice.
- Stir in some lemon zest for a more intense lemon flavor.
- Stick with fresh lemons for the best flavor. Jarred lemon juice just won't cut it for lemonade.
- Use an immersion blender or any blender you have on hand. No need for a high speed blender to make this frosted lemonade.
- No lemons on hand? You can also use frozen lemonade or store-bought lemonade to make this thick and creamy drink.
- Place the serving glass in the fridge or freezer so it's nice and cold when you pour the frosted lemonade in.
- Add some fresh summer strawberries to transform this into a frozen strawberry lemonade drink! You can also try it with raspberries or blueberries for a delicious twist!

As per the Chic-fil-A website, frosted lemonade includes milk in the ice cream, but they use lemonade instead of extra milk to turn it into a milkshake.
Chick-fil-A uses Sunkist lemons, known for their tangy taste, along with sugar and water to make their homemade lemonade. But you can still get great results using whatever large lemons you have at home.

Hey Rita, wondering if using low-fat ice cream would still give a good texture for the frosted lemonade? Trying to keep it a bit healthier for the kiddos but don’t wanna sacrifice the yum factor. Thanks!
Tara G.
I've tried it with low-fat vanilla ice cream before and it still turned out pretty good! Maybe not as creamy, but still delicious.
Rita
yes low fat should work too

Was skeptical about the recipe at first. The texture was slightly off compared to the original but the flavor was pretty close. Might play around with the amount of lemon juice next time. Not bad overall.
Becky H.
I added a bit more sugar to mine and it helped with the flavor! Also, make sure your ice cream is really soft before blending.
Daryl_88
Thanks for the tip, Becky! Will give that a try next round.
Rita
thank you Daryl!
