High protein lunches are the ones that actually keep you full past 2pm, built around a real protein source instead of a pile of crackers and a granola bar.
This is a mix of my own protein forward recipes and a few of the best high protein lunch ideas from other cooks, all built to meal prep well and reheat or hold in the fridge for a few days.

Each one is built around a real protein source, chicken, turkey, tuna, eggs or cottage cheese, so it actually holds you until dinner.

Tips for High Protein Meal Prep
- Cook a big batch of one protein on Sunday – shredded chicken, ground turkey or hard boiled eggs can go into three or four different lunches through the week.
- Blend cottage cheese smooth before using it in a sauce or dressing – a few seconds in a blender turns the curds into something that reads as creamy, not lumpy.
- Pack dressing and sauce in a separate small container – bowls and salads hold up much longer in the fridge when they are not sitting in liquid all week.
- Portion lunches into containers right after cooking – you are far more likely to grab a ready container than to reassemble a bowl at 7am.
- Aim for protein at every meal, not just dinner – spreading protein across the day keeps you fuller longer than loading it all into one big meal.
High Protein Lunch Questions
How much protein should a lunch actually have?
Most nutrition guidance points to somewhere around 25 to 35 grams for a meal to be genuinely filling. Most of the bowls, chicken and soup recipes here land in that range. The wraps and lighter salads sit a little lower, so add a hard boiled egg or a cup of Greek yogurt on the side.
How long do high protein lunches keep in the fridge?
Most bowls, salads and pasta dishes hold for three to four days in an airtight container. Cottage cheese based dishes are best within three days for the best texture.
Can I freeze these for later in the week?
Bowls with rice and protein freeze reasonably well. Cottage cheese based dishes and anything with fresh vegetables are better refrigerated, since the texture changes once frozen and thawed.
Pick two or three of these to rotate through the week, cook the protein once, and lunch stops being a last minute scramble.
