For the tacos

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • ½ cup tomato sauce or puree
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons water or beef broth
  • 8 –10 taco shells or flour tortillas
  • 3 –4 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning mix, or store-bought

  • Red onion
  • Lettuce
  • Sour cream

Instructions
 

  • Make the beef filling: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up so it cooks evenly. Drain any extra grease.

  • Add the sauce: Stir in tomato sauce, water or beef broth, and taco seasoning. Mix well and bring to a simmer so the flavors come together.

  • Simmer: Reduce heat and let it cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened and flavorful.
    3 –4 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning mix
  • Warm the shells: Heat taco shells or flour tortillas according to package directions so they’re soft and pliable.
    8 –10 taco shells or flour tortillas
  • Assemble tacos: Spoon beef mixture into each shell. Add your favorite toppings and serve fresh.
